Lighting Website Updates

This site is selling what they call "aquarium bulbs" now. I havent used them but just in case someone is interested in a good price here you go. They have pretty good prices on ballasts as well if you need a replacement......:)

I know there is a lot of controversy on the different bulbs but I would still love to see the prices come down on a lot of this stuff. Maybe products like these will help!

Advice on LEDs for large tank

Advice on LEDs for large tank

Hi,

Good morning from France to all. I have a 110" x 31.5" x 31.5" (280 cm x 80 cm x 80 cm) SPS tank, and today lighting is composed of 6 x 400 W MH.
As my electricity bill is quite high, I am considering switching to LEDs possibly along with T5. I have read a lot on LEDs but it seems that experience is quite limited for large tanks, in particular depth of 30" or more.
I would like to get your suggestion on potential future lighting set-up using either LEDs only or LEDs + T5. what would you recommend?
seems that the more attractive products are Pacific Sea and TMC-Aquabeam, which performance may be close to MH.
Thanks for your valuable advice.
Fred

Been thinking about going to the 20k Radiums. Using 12k reeflux on the coralvue dimmable ballast. Will the Radiums run good on the coralvue ballast or would I be givin up to much par. Also was wondering about the Reeflux 20k bulbs. Any good?

I would use the coralvue ballast with the 12k reeflux.. I love the reeflux. The radiums are pretty awesome too. There is a website with a $10 promotional code. Ill find the website if your're interested. Sorry I dont know how much par you would lose and I think the only person who would know is Sanjay

Radiums and Coral Vue Ballast (dimmable)

Radiums and Coral Vue Ballast (dimmable)

I have been running the 400w Reeflux 12k bulbs on Coralvue dimmable ballasts. They are about 8 mos. old and my monti caps have browned out pretty badly. I posted in the sps forum and several people chimed in and said they had the same problem. Their claim was that they believe it was due to the bulbs. All recommended I switch to Radiums. I like the Radium bulb look but not so sure of running them on the Coralvue ballast. Will the Radium bulbs run correctly on these ballasts or should I consider another bulb. I am giving serious thought to going with a 20k bulb and would prefer to use the one that will give me the best performance. I know most people use an hqi type ballast for the Radiums but switching out ballasts is not an option at this time. MONEY.
Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance....

I have a 400w mh ballist, can i use it to power 2ea 150w bulbs in parallel or series configuration, thanks

hey guys i need help on choosing a good light fixture for my 55 gallon im trying to spend around 250.. plzzzz help i have corals n wanna get an anemone

I have a Nova Extreme Pro High Output T5 Lighting System with (6) bulbs on a 55 gal tank. As most know the Nova Extreme has two separate switches and mine are on two separate timers. On one timer (timer No. 1) I have two lights (ATI blue plus) and on the other timer (timer No. 2) four lights (UVL 75/25; ATI blue plus; ATI aquablue; ATI blue plus). I run my timer No. 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. then shuts off when timer No. 2 comes on which I run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. then shuts off and once again No. 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Am I doing this right or should ALL lights be on during the 10 hours? During the winter months I have the No. 1 stay on longer in the evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as I like the evening bluish look in the tank but during the summer the tank gets quite warm during the day (highest it has gotten is 84) so have cut down on the lighting operation. Oh, forgot to mention, I have mostly soft corals and fish in my tank.

Anyway, any advice on whether or not I should be running all lights at the same time or the way I am running them now would be appreciated. Thanks

well I am going to change back to HQI from LED...the LED lamp is about 2" over the surface..how high should I place a 150w HQI?

thanks!

I'm looking for some lighting ideas for my 36g bowfront... its 30"long and 19" from the top to the sand. I was trying to find a halide/t5 ho combo but can't find any with that length and all near that size have the halide in the middle so it would be obstructed by the brace.
