Ok.. I think I have fixed the problem with this latest round of updates. I had the ballast id set to the wrong values.. hence it was picking up the 150W ballasts instead of the blueline and EVC. This problem was rampant in all the data that I recently added.

I just finished correcting it.. so I hope it work OK now.

I do not have any of these lamps. I called and asked Coralvue to send me the lamps if they had any interest in me testing them.. did this a while back.

But have not recieved any lamps from them. If and when they bother to send the lamp, I will test it when I have time to get around to it.

Right now all testing is at a standstill... too busy getting my new tank going, and also the spectroradiometer is being used by others for some other research.

It appears Radium might be changing some things in the aquarium halide bulbs.

Under their product listing, they had the 150wattDE, SE, 250wattSE, and 400watt halides listed. The true wattage on many of the bulbs was less as well (the 400 was really rated at something like 350watts).

Now, I see the rating on the 400 to be 450watts, and the 250watt halides have been removed from their website.

Anyone got a clue as to whats going on? Are radiums now going to last for a year or two before replacing?

The radium lamps that we use in the hobby are typically the listed as colored lamps, here is the link to the page.

You will see that the 400W is still listed at 360W.

Hmmm so they sent you the 10K and not the 12K... maybe the PAR is weak and they dont want the truth to be exposed!

I notice on your site that you list the Giesemann ballast from the Nova fixture as electronic. Giesemann calls it a low loss magnetic ballast. Is it some kind of hybrid? Which ballast does it most closely compare to since there are a lot of bulbs that were not tested with it? Thanks

They used to have an electronic. It is no longer available.

So the PFO HQI ballast tested would probably be a close match?

to the electronic or to the magnetic? To the magnetic yes. Essentially for 250w and 150w the M80 and M81 ballasts respectively are very close matches. There is nothing that runs like that G'mann electronic though. It was unique. And it's gone.

That would be cool if it was the electronic, but I'm pretty sure it's the magnetic. It's a 10x5x5 white box and it gets pretty hot.

need some help, sorry for taking a left turn on the conversation but I just got a m81 ballast with my retro and ordered a phoenix 14k bulb for it....can someone point out a link where this comba has been tested ? I would love to see what Im going to get out of this setup! I think that everything I have read shows that the par out of bulbs higher then 10k is pretty low....is this true with phoenix?

Phoenix has similar PAR readings compared to the USHIO 10K or the BLV 10K.
