Hey Guys! I have a 20 gallon tall aquarium with 15 lbs of live rock with a shrimp, six line wrasse, and a damsel it has been running for quite a while and i was thinking about getting maybe some mushrooms and polyps and i have an Actinic light right now.. but i would like something to thrive and not die but if it could just get by with the Actinic i would be happy because i really dont want to by a PC!!:(

But anyway thanks..

what kind of "actinic" do u have? i would take 65 bucks and get a 2x24 watt t5 ho nova extreme. for some lowlight corals that would be fine.

No probably not. I'm assuming its just a standard actinic VHO. Is it in the lid of the stand that came with the tank?

You can buy VERY cheap T5's that would be perfect for keeping zoas and some shrooms in a 20 tall. Look through some of the sponsors of this site and go to their websites. You'll find lots of different options.

Yeah, its just the standard Actinic VHO.. But I'm not planning buying a very very expensive Fixture, So could i keep some non- photosynthetic coral they don't require much light and i would have to hand feed them.... Any one know much about sun corals>..
Thanks

Yes you could keep non-photosynthetic, but theres not much variety there that is readily available. I would say get a cheap 2 bulb T5 fixture like has been suggested and then you could keep some zoas and a couple other things, Probably for around $100. Even cheaper if you can find one used.

Hagan sells a fairly inexpensive fixture called the GLO and you can pick one of those up real cheap.
