lighting

Non-photosynthetic systems share the same rule as FO tanks- lighting is mostly for aesthetic purposes; OTOH, you still get what you pay for. They didn't provide the LED manufacturer's name, it's from Hong Kong, and last but not least, with 4- 20000K and 8- 450nm 1w LEDs, it's going to be relatively dim and very, very blue.

also what would you say is better for viewing purposes, lighter or darker. i say lighter. around 14k

I don't see an issue with it being over a tank- quality will most likely show in how long it lasts. As far as spectrum, that's mostly a personal choice. I prefer around 14k as well; not too white, not too blue.

or you goto Ikea and get LED strips, with remote control to change the colours ;)

I run 1 T5 actinic, and 3 strips of Ikea lighting, set to red, pops colours nicely.

I can't view that link nor do I know the size of your tank but LEDtric has a par30 bulb for $49.99 with their Easter Sale still active.
