Lighting

Hi everyone, I'm looking at getting lighting for my 90 gal 48" long tank. I'd like to get something easily programmable and will be strong enough for SPS corals (when I get to that point).

I'd like to take advantage of the black Friday sale on MD if possible. (sorry people that I've whispered, running out of time :worried: ) I'm kind of thinking of getting two of these and greatly value any input or other suggestions. I'm looking at around $800 for my budget....

For what it's worth I run three Hydra 52's over my 120 (48" x 24" x 24") SPS dominated reef tank. I would think you could get by with two Hydra 52's although there would be some slightly darker areas near the outside edges, but I think you would need more light than what two Hydra 26's will give you.

I run 2 Hydra 52's over my 90, and I don't really have any dark spots. All of my SPS seem to be growing like weeds.

I've found the easiest lights, and most efficient at producing growth and color, are simple T5s. Get good quality bulbs, and your corals will thank you.

You can grow anything with that.. 6 bulb should be fine..

If you want t5 this is a great fixture.

However it does cost more than a 6 channel color control, sunrise/sunset/moonlight, 48" led fixture and you still have a big t5 bulb cost every year ($120 to $150).

Yes, the new Photon V2. ReefinND and I PM'd about it.

I went ahead with Ron's advice and got the Photon V2, I went with the 48" though. It's pretty similar to the lights I had as far as mount goes, so I shouldn't have to make any changes to my canopy or anything hopefully.
