Any idea ?

I was thinking of an combinaison of leds and t5ho. I dont know any kind of leds who can do the work at 30inch deep... how much watt or parr do I need ??

If it does'it work, ill go with 3 x 250w metal halide with t5ho.. even if i prefer avoid the heat of the halide !

Sorry for the thread; bad section !

Maybe i can go with the set up I want to build in the next month !

220g. Miracle with 3 side starphire : 72x24x30
75g sump
SWC Xtreme cone protein skimmer 250 S2
Turbo sea 1100-P return pump
Tunze wavebox 6215
2x Tunze 6105 power head
60 lbs baserock
150 lbs liverock
Neptune Apex controller
I was planning the 72" 3x250 watt 8xT5HO Outer Orbit Current Usa but like I said, i'm not quite sure.... as for the power heads.. maybe Ill go with the wireless VorTech from EcoTechMarine

any suggestion ?

I am setting up a 180...same dimensions as yours just not as high...I will only tell you that talking to people that have big tanks the one thing I always hear is that if they had a chance they would go with less rock than the average 1 lb per gal....especially if you are going to have a reef tank.....it gets to the point where you have a rock tank and when the frags start to grow and they dont have much space and even the fish have less space.......when i do my 180 I only go with about 130 lbs of rock tops and maybe some in the sump for extra filtering and pods.......just my 2 cents....also, your lighting will depend on what you are trying to keep, sps or softies

good to know... maybe ill put more in the sump... and for kind of corals, ill go for softies at first then lps and in one / one and a half, sps...

thanks !

If I were going to light a 30 inch deep tank with only 250W I would use better reflectors than those that come in the outer orbit. I think 250W MH would work much better with luminmax or luminbright reflectors.

what about the ecoxotic ? Goiing well with the apex controller ? I was thinking of 3x 24 inch module for 72 inch of front...

Definitely do cut down on the amount of rock you use, I think I have about 150lb in my 180, stacked into 3 islands and along the back, giving a w look from above. I am running a 400w radium in a lumenbright 3 and like it a lot, Its about 16" above the water and covers about 4', this is my main sps side, on the other side is a 150w 15k just to give both sides light, I also have 4 4' t5's to sumplement, could have easily done just 2 though or 6' vho's would have been a good alternative. I plan on finishing a light mover and using that to move the 400w 2 or 3 feet to cover a larger area but may just end up with 2 400w or a 250w radium instead to cut power.
