LIL Yellow Tang

Hey guys,

just picked up a lil yellow tang.. he isnt in great shape.. looks very thin whats the best food i can give him to fatten him up..

You purchased him like that? You should have waited for a much healthier one that was in good shape. Feed him some good frozen foods and green algae sheets.

Supplement his/her foods with a garlic supplement too.

My YT goes to town on frozen mysis & brine, plus she also eats the green nori sheets.

best way to get it to eat the nori is to rubber band it to a small piece of LR and drop it to the bottom of the tank. A lot of young tangs will not go for a clip because they may feel vulnerable being that high up in the tank. Dropping it to the bottom will queue their natural grazing mindset and he will stick around it if nobody else is bothering him...he'll fatten up really quickly.
