Hello everyone,
This is Tom. Several have asked for updates so I thought I would get out an update on Linda. She was in pretty extreme pain this morning which made it easier for her to want to get the surgery done. She was a trooper through the prep stage and got into conversation of Fish with the anestegiologist. She is always looking for someone to convert to the fishy cult. Her next project was making the Nurse and Dr. promise they would do evrything they could to avoid undue scarring issues so she could go scuba diving.
The surgery took longer than expected as the Dr said the herniation of the disc was extensive and she a high amount of scar tissue around the disc material and spine which he had to remove as much as possible from past surgery. He felt however that he repaired the problem and now we let her recover.
Got to be there when she woke up and even in a fog was telling fish stories and advising me on each individual tank at home to check on and feed specific fish and corals in various tanks being ever so careful not over feed anyone. Her Mom gave her a stuffed Nemo Clown fish which she hugged like a little kid. It was good to see her smile after all she had been through today. I stayed with her for several hours and helped her eat. She was talking about planning for the November meeting and making sure the house was ready etc. This is not a person that can slow down even when drugged up or incapacitated. She wanted to know if there was wireless in the hospital so she could get on line and chat with you all although she could hardly keep her eyes open.
She should get out tomorrow night to come home and she and I really appreciate all the kind words and wishes from all of you. It really is nice to be part of such a caring group of people.
Thank you all,
Tom Close AKA (Mr. Linda C.)
