Lineatus and Rhomboid Wrasse Compatibility

I'm considering adding a pair of rhomboids to my 120 reef. I currently have male lineatus that has been in the tank for a few weeks along with a carpenters, linespot and bipartitus leopard wrasse. With the lineatus and rhomboid having similar body shapes should I be concerned about agessiom between the two? I've been doing some searching and have not come across any stories of aggression but I was told a few weeks ago by someone that it might be an issue. Does anybody have any experience keeping these two in a smaller aquarium?

I have had male of each together before with out any issues. Hope some more chime in to see how they were for them.

Thanks for the response. I've been doing a bunch of googling and have only come across one or two instances of people having problems.

IMO, it would better if the rhomboids were added first. Make sure to use an acclimation box to get them used to each other and be prepared to explore other options if it doesn't work out but I think its worth a shot. Make sure the top has a tight lid, they like to jump out when being chased.

We have both wrasses. Our Rhomboids were added after the Lineatus w/out any issues. As Brett said, they will jump, so 1/4 screening or a tight lid is essential. An acclimation box will help with introduction as well.

My male rhomboid is actually the agressor between the two, but nothing two serious. Even though they have been together for 6 months they is still a little chasing, but not fin nipping or anything serious. The Rhomboid was added 6 months prior to the Lineatus, but until the Lineatus was added he left all the other fairies (exquisite pair, labouti) in the tank alone, now he chases them all. He is my most dominate wrasse.

Thanks for the advice guys I'm going to give them a try and pick them up later today. You aren't kidding with the tight lid. I lost a labouti two weeks ago when it managed to squeeze through tiniest of gaps between my screen frame and glass brace. I still can't figure out how it got through there.

I picked up the pair of rhoboids today from someone in my club. He's had them in his quarantine tank for six weeks so I was pretty comfortable adding them to my display without putting them through my on quarantine. I drip acclimated them and put them in an isolation box in my tank. The lineatus was just a little bit interested when I put the female in the first. He's been sizing up the male since he went into the isolation box. I'll give them a few days in their to see if the lineatus starts to lose interest. Fingers crossed.

great minds think alike. I also have a pair of lineatus wrasses in a 120 gallon and have toyed with the idea of adding a rhomboid.

Hope it worked out great I have a large yellow patch wrasse thinking of adding a lineatus pair with the male being a super. Think is a good idea?

Lineatus and Rhomboids generally mix acceptably. I've kept two together for about a year now; on occasion they squabble for a moment, but nothing that really concerns me.

FWIW, I'd be most concerned with the female Lineatus being overly aggressive in the instance of a pair of Lineatus; they can pack an attitude sometimes.

Mine seems like it could have an attitude, definently the most dominant fish in my tank besides my PBT, that's why I thought it might attack a rhomboid.
