I recently added a Liopropoma Mowbrayi (Cave Basslet), and I have to say that the coloration on this fish is fantastic. He is always out in the open. He has quickly become one of my favorites. :)

Is that a Bodianus Sepiacaudus in the tank with the Cave Basslet? If it is, how's it getting along with your new addition? I want to add a Cave Basslet as well.

Thanks.

It is a Bodianus Sepiacaudus. They get along just fine. The Cave Basslet was added after the Hogfish. From the very beginning, they have been swimming together with no issues.

Reza,

I thought they were hiding most of the time. I am expecting an Elos MINI this week and that is one of the fish I am planning to add to the tank.

This little guy is great!!! He is always cruising the tank, and he loves the PE Mysis. The pair on Diver's Den would look great in your Elos. :)

Reza,

Any update on the L. Mowbrayi? Any additional info/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin

Kevin,

The Liopropoma Mowbrayi is doing great. He loves the PE Mysis. :) For the first few months, he was out in the open most of the time. Over the past few months, he stays mostly around the caves and other pieces of live rock. I have found that the best time for feeding for my guy is after the lights are out. I put in a few pieces of PE Mysis, and as soon as he grabs a piece, he disappears for a short period, until he is done with the piece. IMO, the Liopropoma Mowbrayi is one of the coolest fish. They are hardy and beautiful. BTW, I ended up buying the pair from Diver's Den two months ago. :D Currently, they are living in another small tank.

Reza,

Thanks for the update/info. I've one coming toward the end of the week along with 2 L. rubre to join the rubre I already have. The DD pair is beautiful and I fought hard to resist buying that pair. Congrat on your addition.

Thanks Kevin. You are going to be real happy with your new Liopropoma Mowbrayi. Good luck with adding the two new Swissguard Basslets. I had one in my previous tank, and they are awesome. Like you, I am a big fan of these guys.

It's been a couple years, wondering if you still have this fish. I'm looking for one so I dug up this thread.

I moved a year ago, so I had to tear down my tank. I only kept my Candy Basslet and Bandit Angel from the old tank. My Candy Basslet is one of favorites, but honestly, the Cave Basslet is not far behind. I went a different direction with my new setup, many wrasses, but I would highly recommend the Cave Basslet. If you can get one from DD, you should go for it. They are awesome!!!

I have a candy basslet on order, but it's taking a while to come in. I'm saving some money so trying to be patient. Then I saw Cave Basslet on DD and thought it was a beautiful fish. I currently have a ventralis anthia and a helfrichi in a 40, so I'm sure the Cave Basslet should do fine.

When you were looking for the Cave Basslet's did it take a while for you to find one? I have a new tank on order so I'll be doing a tank transfer in the next couple months. I'm thinking if I pass on this one at DD how long will I have to wait for another to come around.

It didn't take too long. They come in spurts. If I am not mistaken, this is the third Cave Basslet on DD over the past six weeks or so. If you have the space for it, I think that you should go for it. :). If not, they will pop up again.
