Liquid Phosphate Removers

So my PO4 is at 2. Using Phosphate Control's 6 drops for 10 gallons I need to treat 270 drops or 13ml to drop my 450 gallons by 0.05. One 30ml bottle effectively drops my whole system by 0.1. Therefore if I understand it correctly I would need 20 bottles running me $650 to drop my PO4 by 2.

And on the other hand we have Brightwell Aquatics Phosphat-E Liquid Phosphate Remover for all Marine Aquaria which comes in a 500ml and states that 1ml will drop PO4 by 1ppm per 4 gallons so 250ml or half a bottle would drop 1000 gallons by 1ppm or by that token my whole system by 2.

And still have half a bottle left over.......

So why the HUGE price difference between Phosphate Control and this Brightwell product? I really would like to solve my issue with a $25 spend over $650.

Or have I misunderstood Phosphate Control, massively overdosed and killed my tank?

You can also get pool supply phosphate remover, which is the same stuff (LC). The Brightwell sounds reasonable though.

They charge that much because they can. IMO it's the saddest part of the hobby. Repackaging common chemicals, slap "reef" on the label and charge an exorbitant amount. I know it takes money to stay in business, but this practice bends my crank.

how about using GFO's like Rowa or Phosban

check out the dosing chart for Rowaphos it and other gfo's are quite efficent and coast is not so bad

You did read Phosphate Control wrong...

Six drops removes 1 ppm per 10G. I've used it for a while and works great. Before that was Carib-Sea Phosphate Buster but the Blue Life is so much better IMO.

vijaym85, I really had GFO products. Just another bunch of equipment to maintain. I have buckets of unused Phosban.

vthondaboi - are you sure. The box definitely said 0.05 but maybe that measurement and 1ppm are different measurements? The instructions here do say 1ppm per 10 gallons. My dose at 270 drops is still fine though.

Just wonder what 0.05 is compared to 1ppm. If anyone has some you'll see it on the box yet the online instructions say "ppm" so no idea what "0.05" is...?
