Does anyone foresee a need to resurrect the private forum that we had?

If so, I can think of a few suggestions ;)

It was nice to have , BUT If there were 5 posts a year on it, that could have been considered a hot topic !... :o

Ahhh yes yet another club member offering something with no response from the board.

That is not constructive at all.

The BOD have very active lives beyond LIRA, so we may not see or say something right away and its not fair to cast the BOD in such a negative light for all club members to see.

Personally and professionally, I have many things going on, and at times its to the breaking point for my mental state. If there are changes to be made in my responsibilities so I can stay sane, my involvement with LIRA would be one of the first things to go, and its negative comments and unfounded assumptions that would make that move much easier.

We welcome constructive criticism, we have a very dedicated BOD and will always continue to do our best to make the LIRA experience a good one.

Private Forum

This problem was discussed by a board member: Chuck,
4/11/07- 8:56 PM, sorry do not know how to post thread #.
So for those that can not remember, or do not read all the posts,
please ask before you jump into bashing. Besides, alot of these comments are from people who are no longer members. When asked if they intend coming to meetings they politely reply "I don't think so."
We can not please all the people all the time but we do try to do it right.

Understood, and I do think that Chris was a little premature posting his dissatisfaction. I do however fully understand where his frustration is coming from. Many of the original members feel as if we have lost our club, and nobody seems to give a damn about it when we express that.

I, for one, will not be attending any more LIRA meetings/functions as the club has drastically changed in a negative way for me.
I'm frustrated and saddened by the fact that this club's elected leaders made major changes without consulting it's members, and it's apparent that things are going to continue just that way.
It would have been nice if you guys had been upfront when Bill suggested talking to Les about the studio, and told us flat out that you had no intentions of doing so. Instead, Tony told him (us) to have Les contact you :rolleye1:
You knew full well that was never going to happen. Collectively, the BOD blew off a request made by some very long term members of the club. IMO, that's not what a BOD is supposed to be about.

Ive been frusrated with the club for awhile now as im sure everyone can guess. I was a member for several years and curently am not. I do understand that the board makes decidsions for the club but however i always felt big decisions should be discussed among the members and possibly voted upon. the board has made it clear that all decisions will be made by them irreguardless of how members feel. The board was not honest with all that transpired with Les. If the boad has noticed there are alot of missing faces from LIRA past at the current meetings. Theres a reason for that and rather than the board asking or trying to reach out they just dont care. Sometimes trying to be the biggest and the best isnt worth it. We all know the board is trying fpor a MACNA event but at what cost does it come? Who really benefitrs from it? LIRA or the people involved putting it all together?

We're trying for a MACNA? Are you kidding me? What is the icon for "rolling on the floor laughing hysterically and saying "no, no no"? What is the icon for "what are you smoking"? And where is Chuck when I need him?

I can assure you that I for one have heard nothing of this, MACNA 2007 is in Pittsburgh, MACNA 2008 has already gone to another club, and I speak only for myself when I say I want NO part of being the one planning a MACNA. I know the guys doing the Pit one, and I can assure you it is a LOT of work.

I feel the same way. as do man many others.

I don't know how the word got out?? we must have a "mole" on the board...:eek1:
Ahh, yes christine, MACNA is being planned for 2008-09 and being held in my backyard! I was just trying to scrounge up and reserve some tents before I made the grand announcement. sorry you had to find out this way.
on the other topics...
I don't understand what the point your trying to make? Are you guys trying to say that if the meetings were held at Les's you would come? What difference does it make where the meetings are held? you didn't like the old board, you don't like the new board, you don't want to be a part of LIRA as it is now. So where ever the meetings are held is a "moot" point.
what ever transpired in the past (over a year ago) is in the past...Time to let go, so lets all put on our "big boy panties" and go out and play nicey nice...

As far as the forum goes.. I posted twice the reasons why it went down. and the reason why it's didn't get recreated is because NO ONE POSTS ON IT and it's too time consuming to keep running for only 5 post a year. If LIRA members really want there own forum ...nobody opened their mouth and said so. So it looks like Chris you're the only one that has a problem with that. And you haven't attended a meeting or function in almost two years are you still a member?

I think the advantage of a private board is that issues such as this and any airing of dirty laundry do NOT have to be posted here on Reef Central.

It's kind of embarrassing to read this stuff here... and I can only imagine what outsiders must think...As well as any potential speakers the club hopes/hoped to invite in the future.

Chuck no im not a member. Last meeting i made was Feb of 2006 at which point i renewed my membership. It expired Feb of 07. And i do recall people mentioning holding an IMAC or MACNA in the future. Not any time soon. Maybe i had the wrong event.
At this point im done with any discussion of this because whats done is done. Like Vinny said you cant please everyone all the time.
Chuck heres another point maybe having our own private forum wasnt used much but this discussion would have been better off being had there and not here where everyone on RC can read it. Dontcha think? But what the heck do i know?

your rihjt in what you say.. it would be better to take this else where .. But the only people who keep "airing" very Old dirty laundry are you people.. and since you don't want to be members it would never be discussed on a "private forum"
It' s now a moot point so why does it keep coming up?
