Little advice needed.

Ok after buying 2 wrong sized return pumps IWAKI 40 rlt,& Mag 9.5


I need to know what size return pump do i need for a 20L with 2 3/4" overflows.The 2 prior were way too much.

Why not plumb a tee into your return line with a gate valve on it that leads back to your sump. Then you could use one of the pumps you already have.

I was afraid of burning up the pump.

If you tee it off back into your sump, you are just running less through your display. the gate valve lets you control how much you divert.

you just need to splice a T connector in there. On the part that T's off put on a valve to control the flow, and whatever flow you allow through this valve will run right back into your sump, bypassing your display. This will put much less stress on your pump.

i second what they said, and with the bypass you can run, a chiller or filter/s, keep the mag 9.5 that is good
