Little dot things...

Koshmar

The Hardy Mongolian Pony
I just noticed these little white dots appearing on the glass in my tank. There is no way I could get a pic of them, (less than 1 mm in diameter). White circle with about 5-7 lines coming out of the center. I think it might be some type of small star. Not sure. I checked the forums and I can't find a thread with a pic of one. As far as I can tell, they are not mobile. Suggestions for id?

Sounds like it might be hydroids. Check this out: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/jelly.html

The picture there is really high quality, and usually it's a lot harder to see so much detail in the arms. But with the size you mentioned, and the description, that sounds like it would be a type of hydroid (not to be confused with the colonial hydroids). They are harmless, and usually if you want to get rid of them I've found that bumping up the water flow, and an algae scrapper are the best method.

Thanks for the link. I have a feeling that is what was on my glass. I used an algae scrapper to get them off. Glad to know they are harmless.
