Live Aquaria or other online stores?

Hey BillNye,
If you are here in California I would recommend Vivid Aquariums in Canoga Park CA. I haven't had any experience with them myself yet, but have heard nothing but good reviews. They sell online ship for free over 200 dollar purchase and always have good deals. Oh and they PRICE MATCH their fish with other online retailers. Or if you live close or in the area might as well stop in.

Hi Isaac,
I think I'm going to have to take a trip up there this weekend. I've followed Dave's videos from vivid for a while and have learned a bunch thanks to him. I have to see his 800g display tank :eek1:

Thank you all for the feedback!

No worries! Glad we can help. Yea I learned a lot from his videos as well. If i lived down south I would definitely buy everything from there. With the exception of dry rock of course. Hope you enjoy your visit there. Post some pictures of the fish/corals you get so we can check them out.

With what you're wanting to buy, is there a reason not to check out one of the many stores that are most likely in a 20 mile radius of you? Support your local businesses, find one or more good LFS' and build relationships. It's one of many great things about the hobby.

Tangingout (great name),
Everything so far has been purchased from various fish stores near by. A few are more so into making a buck than actually helping me so I'm curious what others use to purchase their livestock.

I've always had good experiences with live aquaria. I've also had good experiences with saltwater fish.com.

If you are in the L.A. Area, I recommend a trip out to Vivid's store. It's pretty cool. I didn't buy from them because I was on vacation. They gained my instant respect when I asked them about a blueberry gorgonian and they said that almost everyone of them died within a year after purchase, so they don't recommend them.

Most stores offer credits versus refunds. Be careful reading the fine print. LA and Divers den are the best and including KP aquatics from Florida. For specialty stuff NY Aquatics is good but shipping is costly but worth it.
So how is KP Aquatics? I've never heard of them, but they seem to have some great prices on Caribbean fish.

Go to the website and tap on about us for history. You can ask for different sizes which makes it super nice. They are awesome

Never had a single problem or disappointment with LiveAquaria in years of orders. Unique Corals is also beyond EXCELLENT for corals especially SPS.

I've ordered 1 fish from Live Aquaria, many fish from Divers Den, and two fish from Vivid. My experiences:

- The LA order was fine and nothing unique. I would order from them again

- The DD orders were all very nice fish and fat. Unfortunately, my last order with them in March came with velvet. I had the DD fish QT with other fish so I ended up losing some of the other fish because of it. They did extend their warranty when I told them they gave me velvet... I've also had some fish that wouldn't eat and died, always got a refund no questions asked. I would order from DD again even though that velvet issue was very frustrated and now I dont trust their fish any more than the LFS lol.

- I ordered from Vivid last year once. The fish came a little malnourished and had flukes. One died within a few days. I forgot to take a picture cause I'm so used to Live Aquaria no hassle policy. So I did not get a refund or store credit for the dead fish. The other one was malnourished and eventually died after 2 months. I won't order from Vivid again.

I actually just placed an order with LiveAquaria for one fish and two fish from Divers Den. I also plan on ordering a few fish from NYAquatic (will be my first experience) once these three finish quarantine.
