Planning a trip to the area next week and wnodering about the retail store. Has anyone been there? Worth the drive? What are the chances of a tour Monday 5/23?

To follow-up on a post that had many views but no re:'s

FYI

Well, I made it to the store & all opinions are true. It's largely a typical pet shop. There is a very moderate salt water selection to be kind. On the upside, I chose 3 pieces from Live Aquaria . com on Saturday. I emailed them the items I wanted and when I planned to be there and sure enough, the nailed the timing. I now have a nicely packaged "checked bag" for tomorrows return to NY.

I wonder how much business they do online because their Diver's Den specimens have quite a turnover now. I often see new specimens disappear the same day they come up.

From what I saw today, that is the only significant coral biz they do (online). I was going to post pictures but, I know they (DFS) sponsor this site, and I really don't want to be scolded by mods. and sent to the gallows (sorry, just saw Pirates 4).

I will make it out for a tour some time though. I understand their systems are impressive. The tough part is, they are not easy to get to. Lets say they are "off the beaten path".

It's pretty impressive the website and business they've built for themselves. I've ordered 4 times over the past 7 years and I can say that they are my favorite online vendor for sure. Their customer service is exceptional and their WYSIWYG Diver's Den is as advertised.

Travel update

Checking a professionally packaged coral box is "unusual" for TSA for sure. After a complete inspection from TSA (& I mean COMPLETE) I an NY bound. My recommendation for folks that may consider doing what I have, be sure to get to the airport with time to spare. Come to find out, they (airlines) have a protocol for such baggage. They researched the requirements (which there are many BTW) and Dr. Fosters and Smith met all (obviously). I must say, there was a moment where I imagined having to leave them behind.

Anyway, hears to hoping they (United Airlines) don't loose the package in Chicago!
