Live fish from petco online.

Any one ordered live fish from them online.
I know in store there fish usually get ick from stress. Is there livestock direct from there supplier healthy?

I personally avoid Petco. With several very good online vendors, why would you want to purchase from Petco?

I see. As for me, I'm willing to pay more knowing I'm getting a quality fish. Several posters shop in person at Petco, so hopefully you'll get some feedback on Petco online.

Have you ever seen the fish at petco? I would image the ones purchase online would be similar in health. In most cases you get what you pay for.

I just had a huge order from live aquaria Tuesday. All the fish were very healthy. But there sizes were no where near the sizes I ordered.


I guess my base question is do the fish show up to petco healthy or sick. My local petco is a ick factory

The way I look at it. Your LFS gets there fish through the mail do what's the harm in you getting them the same way. Live aquaria offers 2 week warranty on fish. My LFS dosnt give 24 hour

The Petco local to me got all their marine fish from Quality Marine. Not sure if that's normal, or if that's still the case.

Petco online has worked out well for me, was delivered a bigger than expected healthy powder blue, copperband, and bannerfish. If something does not make it in 15 days, you get a credit back onto your credit card, not store credit.

That is correct - Quality Marine supplies my petco as well. My success rate w/ petco versus my LFS is 50/50 - for me, I'll order what I want & I pick it up as soon as it's delivered & do not let them add it to their tanks.

I believe Quality Marine provides most online guys too.

That's what I am talking about. If quality marine is giving live aquaria there fish and petco why would I not let quality marine mail fish straight to me. I talked to the petco 1800 # and they said that the fish I buy will come straight to me from quality marine. I am thinking about pulling the trigger.

I bought both my yellow tang and blue hippo with the expectation of them getting ick and/or dying> Both came in at 3-3.5 inches and neither ever showed a sign of ick in QT for 6 weeks. Both ate right away and that was 7 months ago. Only thing is they wont eat algae sheets

This is exactly what I've done in the past with pretty good success. It started with me going in there while the bags were still floating and cherry picking what I wanted. After awhile, they started letting me tell them what I wanted and they would order it for me. And since Petco now uses QM as their wholesaler it's no different than placing an order with LA. It's actually better... because you don't have to meet the $225 minimum to get free shipping and they pick the boxes up for you. So, you don't have to wait around all day on a UPS driver or go to the depot.

Obviously, every Petco is going to be a little different. It really helps if you can establish a good rapport with whoever the fish manager is.

Petco online uses quality marine as the wholesaler. They don't even see the fish IIRC. I honestly wouldn't worry about it and order from them. Better than my LFS in my area anyways.

My local petco has never disappointed me, i always get fish there because it always cheaper than my lfs and closer, not once have got ick with any of my fish and ie been going to my petco for the past 3yrs. The petco stores get there shipping on Tuesday, what i do is a go and look at the bags and if theres anything i like ill taske them inside the bag before they put in thier tanks.
