Does anyone know of a good place to see pictures of really cool live aquascaping? I'm trying to find creative and unusual ways to stack rock

excellent thread, Gary. While we are talking about this...i have a question..what are the pros and cons of stacking on bare glass and then adding sand...or are there any cons at all?

ok...then are there any drawbacks to NOT having sand, i.e. what corals would not do well, or fish or inverts, without it...

ive seen a couple amazing bare bottom tanks. one particular one that sticks out in my head might have even been a tank of the month a long time ago.. high grade mushrooms and zoos covered the entire bottom. an amazing sight. i dont think there are really any drawbacks, only in your sump i would probably put more sand in than normal.

so...if the tank is bare bottom.....oh...my brain is working on this one...you could potentially do some artistic uplighting from under the tank......hmmmmm....

i concur.. going to any LFS gives you many ideas to set up a tank of any size. my tank has a wall of rock with some pretty big boulders in it. not the best in terms of aquascaping but im working with what i have and im too lazy to take apart the tank and break rocks apart and all that... maybe when i set up my 90.

and yes superkat, you could potentially do something like that. you might wanna make sure that you clean off the detritus on the bottom of the tank when you do water changes though, or periodically send a large amount of flow to the bottom of the tank to stir it all up and get filtered out

this got me thinking so much that i'm up to my armpits in saltwater. placing a few rocks and experimenting with christmas lights....i also found out that you can contain the sand to a certain area using rubble, thereby giving a randomness to it...or if you wanted to uplight a cave in the back, which is what i'm working on right now...

yeah, i need to get over there...migraine all day today. Ryan, been thinking about the coraline.

My t-shirt is sopped. let me grab a pic with just the light bulb under the tank.

playing...
