Live rock arrived

I ordered 58 pounds of live rock. After speaking with Jeremy I ended up getting 40 pounds of the cured fiji and 18 pounds of the cured kaelini. I placed my order shorty after 8 AM monday morning and picked up the rock just after 11 that evening from southwest airlines. Even with a one hour flight delay the rock was out of water for less than 16 hours. I am very pleased with the rock and would recommend Premium Aquatics to anyone. The rock I received was just as I requested. I look forward to doing business with PA again in the future.

Thanks!

Hi Travis,

I'm glad to hear the rock got you as quickly as it did and you were pleased with what we pulled. Thanks again for the order!

The tank is still cloudy. But here are a few of the way it is currently aquascaped.

Cool Aquascaping...did you glue the rock together? Does the rock have much color...corralline algea? What kind of sand are you using? I like the tank so far...really looks good.

There isn't a ton of color to it right now but it does have a variety of colors present in areas of the rock. From my limited experience even rock that comes in with tons of color experiences a whitening phase before it comes in again. I am confident it will color up more in time. There are also a few sps skeletons and possibly even one or two that may grow into something later down the line. I didn't have to use any glue to get the rock to stay like that. It seems pretty sturdy.

For sand I used 20 lbs of fiji pink live sand and 30 lbs of the Caribsea aragonite 2 mm grain size. It mixed together really well. In addition to this the caribsea sand came in very clean and gave almost no sandstorm at all. Just as described by Jeremy.

Most of the sand from a depth perspective is in the sump area. Here is a picture. Sorry the tank is messy.

Great aquascaping, just as I had imagined when we were talking about it over the phone!

You are right on about the color. Uncured rock has much more coralline on it, however this does die back during the curing process. Freshly cured rock will have the least amount of coralline algae. Within the next 2-3wks the colors will really start to pop back out on it.

At least you got some decent corraline on your rocks, I got the same rock, 40 pounds worth and it was practically bone dry.
