Okay what next??

Have 75g tank set up with 4" dsb 40-45 lb base rock Remora /c maxijet 1200 and 2 maxi jet 1200 powerheads running.

I ordered 40 lbs. Caribbean LR from LiveAquaria due to arrive Friday morning.

Will need to cure rock in tank as have no other option, how do I proceed when my shipment arrives. Really don't want to be doing something to mess things up.

Do I need to be doing something with the rock when it arrives??? How long after adding rock should I start doing water tests

Thanks

Throw it in and arrange it how you want. It'll have some die-off so you should test a few days after placing it in. I mean you can test as often as you like but it just needs to sit for a while. Sounds like you got a good plan so far.

P.s. DSB's are usually considered 6'' minimum

You could also rinse the rock, to try to remove any rotting organic matter, and look for dead animals and remove them. A scrub brush sometimes helps.

I'd remove the sand if possible. Otherwise you will have tons of decaying detritus sinking into that sandbed over the next several months. Curing Rock in tank is possible but I always reccomend doing it in a bare tank to easily remove the waiste. My Live Rock took 3+ months in a high flow barebotom tank to stop shedding detritus. At that pointr is when I would add the sand.

In addition, I would plan on removing the rock twice a week and dunking/swishing in buckets of saltwater to aid in removing detritus. Then place it back in the tank. Water changes should be done regularly as well. Oh... and keep the lights off for the first few weeks. This will help kill algaes.

One more thing that others did not mention but a good idea is to open your boxes outside the house, when I opened mine a bunch of flies flew out and were in the house(what a pain).
