ok i picked up somelive rock today and i just now seen a little crab in a rock. his body is like an emerald crab...not fuzzy at all..very small...smaller than a dime.....he is basically tan in color but again no hairs or bristles on his body....any thoughts? im just wondering should i rip'em out ? i wish i could get a picture and i will keep trying but this is an emergency as i have a full blown reef with corals..sps.lps.polyp softies...etc..help!

safe bet get him out, keep him in the fuge or sump till ided, crabs can be a pain, i too have a tan one with darker claws and he lives in a hole and wont come out for anything, i think he comes out when ever im not there to pick on my polyps next to his hole

i took him out! couldnt chance it!thanks guys . i just took out the rock it was small about half a pound maybe . so he will for now live in the quarenteen tank.

you lucky!!! ive been try to get this crab out of mine for a couple weeks now, so far im at the point where i might have to kill him to get him out, post a pick if you can

yeah i was lucky i saw him just now at lights off. he was venturing out i guess. imvery anal with my tank so anything new i check often ....thank god i got it out / noticed it the first night!

"Gorilla Crab" I believe. It took me months to get one out of a 120g full of SPS. Had a body the diameter of a soda can. It was knocking frags over every night, and eating SPS poylps during the day. Finally drained every gallon from the tank into a 150g stocktank next to it, leaving the corals in low-tide exposure basically. This was after I spotted it in an area that was isolated from the main rockwork. Tipped some rocks and snatched him w/ a forceps with ease, although I had tried this at least 50x before when there was water in the tank.

This is what results from keeping "cool" little hitchhikers. I'll never make that mistake again.

thats what i was worried about ....he wasnt hairy though..just small.........in any case i couldnt chance it and ripped out the rock he was in and just added.....small piece

ahhhhhh me too ....so some juvenile gorrilas look similar...not hairy? i get it! glad i ripped it out! thanks for your info and experiences!
