Live Rock question

I have a quick question. I have about 50 lbs of live rock that has been in my tank for 2 1/2 years, great coraline and everything. If I get 50 LBS of dry rock and add it, will it cause an ammonia spike? Also with this dry dead rock, how long does it take to seed it?

i don't think so, and i think about 3-4 months depending

no spike if it is dry rock and svhool reefer is right it should take about 3 to 4 months to seed

if it's truly dead, there should be no spike.
