Live rock replaced by dead rock

Is there a method, to slowly switch out all my Live rock in my established tank to newly bought dead rock until finally the DT's live rock gets completely replaced by the New Dead?

Cycle the rock in something first. Then slowly replace it piece by piece. If there's life in the tank already do it very slowly. Why are you swapping out the rock?

Assuming the dead is clean dry rock then you can just take some live out and put the dry in..Dont do it all at once but maybe 1/4 at a time over the next month..
The dry rock will quickly be repopulated with bacteria and be live again in no time..

Or cycle all the dry rock as stated above and swap it all out at once..

One may be a slightly better choice depending on why you are swapping in the first place..

You can possibly sell the old rock or trade to your store for credi: just keep it alive in the sump and recoup some of your cost.

I wouldn't bother pre-cycling the rock if it were mine - just slowly swap it out
