Live rock versus cupramine

Hi

I have a chelmon marginallis (margin copperband) in quarantine and it has developed whitespot. I intend to treat with cupramine to treat the disease. I have a very small amount of live rock in the qt initially to assist the fish in feeding. I realise that the cupramine will kill off anything left on the rock and I am okay with that. However, is there a danger that the cupramine will be absorbed by the rock and therefore be ineffectual as a treatment for the whitespot?

yes the live rock will

you will just have to use a test kit and add extra as needed

lots of people put pvc pipes in the QT instead of LR for that very reason

He's right live rock being so porous will naturally trap available " heavy metals" thus keeping them tucked away from the water column. Test the level of copper and add as required.... I usually strip a solid strand 12g wire and dip it in the qt tank or even any fish only tank/ holding system thus utilizing the copper that is released as it catalyzes
