So I grabbed a few carberryi anthias just to get to the free shipping limit with my marginalis butterfly. OMG the carberryi are STUNNING! Perfect size (not tiny), fat, and the colors are tremendous. With a sale price of $22 each, anyone looking for some needs to jump on these!!

Pics to come...

Just got some locally for the same price. Must be an "overabundance" if everyone is selling them cheap.

Regardless, they are awesome fish.

Give in to the temptation! Haha... they're nice fish.

FWIW, when I picked up my two groups (from LA) they were on sale for $15 and $17 the next time. Bargain priced anthias :D

Peter, post up some pics!

I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to ordering a trio this past weekend, however, I leave on business next monday. Hope that price lasts until later this month

I was at a LFS yesterday and wouldn't you know it, they have them for just a few bucks more than LA.

I'd like to add a trio. Currently I have a Kole Tang, Sixline, and Ocellaris in a 75g. Good idea or no?

How hardy are these anthias? I thought they were pretty difficult to keep long term for dietary reasons.

I've lost a couple before, to what I suspect was uronema. Haven't had any issues, assuming they are eating to begin with, regarding diet. Keeping color intensity, on the other hand, definitely hasn't been so easy.

Sorry. I just checked cuz I was interested in them too. They are $29.99 now per:fish2:

Peter, what are you feeding them?

I've had mine going on a year, and of the 23 I purchased I only lost one. They eat everything that I've ever offered... if I threw a cheeseburger in the tank they'd probably eat it. IMO they are hardy and easy to feed.

Sorry to hear that. The color intensity is next to impossible with them. In a few months they'll look pretty standard, but still beautiful.

Peter, what are you feeding them?

Dry:
spirulina flakes
NLS pellets

frozen:
Hikari mysis
Formula 1
Formula VHP
scallop
shrimp
PE mysis (sparingly)

Live blackworms, occasionally.

I've been told I need to feed more cyclopeeze to keep the red/oranges, but they are so tiny, and make such a mess in the tank...

Cyclop-eeze helps little, if any with their color. I have been feeding it for a while regularly. They do go nuts for it of course.

Maybe eggs in the diet would help? I know a LFS sells Caplin (sp?) roe from... I forget which brand...

Capelin roe couldn't hurt. I'm sure they'll eat it. I've been wanting to get my hands on some also. I've heard it's also good food for tuka's, but that's another subject.

I started a thread a while back on the anthias color loss, there were some different suggestions about why and what to do. One theory was bright lights are to blame, which could be partially true. I don't know if I imagine it but their color seems much more pronounced in the morning when they wake up (?) I think it's mostly a dietary thing though... something is missing.

I know the carberryi's that SDguy and I both got from the same local LFS here have been eating like little piggies, so that part seems easy to me so far.
Time will tell on keeping colors, fingers crossed.
I do feed cylopseze fairly regularly, as well as PE mysis.
I haven't seen them take spectrum pellets yet, hopefully they start to copy my Lyretails.

I am not conerned about mine eating, I am more interested in strategies to keep coloration. My current plan is: cyclopeeze, capelin fish roe, hikari mysis, and blackworms. But if anyone has ideas for including something else, I am all ears.
