Liveaquaria Divers Den has Naked Clown Pair

Only a generation or two away from a peacock cichlid *shudders*.

I know this is personal opinion, but I think those clowns look malformed and unhealthy. I hate to see other people selling what I would cull.

I agree with your opinion. I have culled fish with heads shaped better than that.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought they looked less than healthy.

I thought that ORA was the sole source of naked clowns.

any breeder that doesn't cull can be a source for these...

I got into reefing cause things seemed more natural...maybe I was wrong. Those things are hideous :wildone:

Inbreeding at its best.

Samt thing that is producing Snowball's and all the other "high dollar" clowns

The weird heads could have easily been caused by poor husbandry during development of the young.

As far as I know, snowflakes and picassos have nothing to do with inbreeding. I both cases the parents are wild caught fish that just happen to produce weird babies or have odd markings. The black ocellaris weren't produced by inbreeding either, they are just perpetuated by inbreeding because it is almost impossible to obtain any new breeding stock from the wild because of collecting restrictions and salt water crocs.

I'm not typically a fan of mis-barred clowns. I really prefer holotypes. However; Sue liked the naked clowns and if I find some that look healthy (not mis-shapen heads, bent bodies etc.) she'll get them.

Then I'll have to set up a new tank for those clarkii that are currently in her tank! I don't think she considered that part of wanting the "naked clowns." :)
