LiveAquaria switching from Fedex to UPS

I had heard this rumor, but wanted to get it straight from the horse's mouth. Anyway, I just got this email from LA:

"Yes, what you read is true. We are switching all of our shipping services from Federal Express to delivery through UPS. This is true for air shipments as well as ground shipments. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
We may have some vendors that continue to use Federal Express for shipments, but those would be fore some supplies, and not live specimens."

This probably won't matter to some, but I think it's something everyone should know before placing your next order with them.

Didn't see that before I posted!

just added the link for those who have access to that section, and because there are official answers from LA.

It is still god that you posted it here, some people don't have access to those forums and not everyone checks them. (don't' know if the blue font meant something)

well, that stinks. if I do order live goods then it probalby wont be from liveaquria. I think the service is great but i've had terrible luck with ups losing packages

I dont think anything will change fed ex to ups.Im 2 hrs from them and my order came quicker with ups than fed ex. You have to remember foster and smith ships thousands of packages everyday,so if fed ex keeps rasing the price they have to move on. Live Aquaria is A top notch operation and has the best coustmer service.

I agree that it won't matter as long a Liveaquaria maintains the great customer service that they already do.

I have had better luck with fedex.... but... I guess I will have to live with it.

I like to use CYAN personally.

It gives it that hard to read aspect and slightly 3-d depending on how you see it.

I just wish I could get rid of the bright background as a default on the forums. I would rather have a dark background and light text.

thats good
i know a while back the wife got some shots for the dogs and of course you have to next day it and supposed to be here by like 3 so at 3 what happens?...NOTHING

Guess who shows up bout 6 PM...Damn FedEx guy
I usually wait for the to knock but i went right out im like so this was supposedf to be here at 3
Hes like yeah i know
I said so why wasent it
No answer
I said OK then

Went inside and called both DF&S and FedEx and got my shipping returned which was god but it ****es me off when it has a date ad time its supposed to be there its for a reason

We got lucky and the shots were still cold but the bags and been out for so long the whole box was soaking wet

Anyways thats my lil rant about FedEx lol

A while ago I ordered from LA and the FedEx guy dropped the box on my floor before I had a chance to grab it from him...you don't see the labeling "fragile - handle with care?" I guess you can get careless drivers from either one.

Never thought about what happens if they lose the package, or if it's so late that everything is dead - how does LA handle that? Do they redo your order for free or do you have to pay another shipping charge?

I ordered livestock from another vendor that uses UPS and from LA when they used FEDEX. Both times my order was shipped via UPS from another vendor the shipment showed up a a full day late. I have never had a FedEX overnight shipment arrive later than 10:30am. Hopefully this pattern changes because I do like LA.

I have had problems with both companies in the past but more with UPS. Both have lost packages before. I think part of the UPS problem is our local delivery guy. The local FedEx delivery guy is better IMHO.

UPS has been better for me, my local delivery guy is awesome. I'm sure LA will be fine still. I got a pair of girdled fairy wrasses from them just before 10am yesterday via UPS. Happy (well, as happy as fish in a box getting tossed into QT can be) and healthy as expected.

That stinks. With FedEx I can get Saturday delivery to my local FedEx Kinkos and do a pickup. Now I won't be able to use LA because I can't take a day off work when I want to order something.

I wouldn't be surprised if they still use FedEx for Saturday shipments. Probably just UPS for shipments during the week.

UPS does Saturday deliveries. Pretty sure they will allow pickup from the customer service center also, although you may need to arrange it ahead of time or it may depend on the area.
