Livestock Quarantine Thread

I will be moving all my tanks' livestock into a new system, but before that I will do a very thorough quarantine. The below are the steps I'm planning to take, but I need some suggestions / tips / critisism before going into it.

Equipment:
30 Gallon Fish QT
10 Gallon Coral QT

30G Fish QT:
1x 150watt Jager Heater
1x Seio 620
Some PVC piping to hide in
1x AquaClear HOB filter
1x 55watt PC bulb

10G Coral QT:
1x 150watt Jager Heater
2x Seio 620
AquaClear HOB Filter
1x 250watt HQI

30G Fish QT:
The only fish I'll be introducing will be my pair of clownfish, so I'll probably just stick them into the QT for a few days. They shouldn't need any treatment since they have always been healthy, but I'll probably go for some ich treatment just in case. In the aquaclear I'll just be using a sponge.

For new fish I will QT for at least a week, treating for ich, popeye, and anything else that I see. I'll also make sure they're eating well. I'll do two water changes a week while they're in the tank.

10G Coral QT:
Not sure what to do here. Inspect for red bugs, AEFW, etc... I'll probably just have them sit in the tank for a week with Tropic Marin Coral Cure dips once a day. I'll QT my SPS first, then LPS and Softies. Do you think one 15 min dip a day will do the job? I'll also be checking for any eggs etc. I only have a few SPS, and they all look really healthy anyway.

Any tips / suggestions?

Sounds like a plan. The only thing I would reconsider is...one Seio 620 for the 10g QT is way too much, let alone 2 of them. Fill up the 10g and test it out. I would suggest a Maxijet 900 or 1200 with that rotating attachment (I think it's called Hydor, or something?). Just my $0.02.

you're right, maybe I should use the 30G to qt the corals =/ or else a maxijet or two. I have a bunch of spares laying around.

Just to be sure the new tank will be very healthy. Redundancy is all =P

I'm confused, why do you think you need to QT if you're simply moving stuff around to new tanks?

My aquarium technician has always told me that stress is what causes most of the illness and disease to take hold. IMO would QTing unnecessarily be causing potential extra stress on the animals? If your animals are disease free, just acclimate slowly and lots of TLC handling.

I'll probably just go with a dip for the corals and inspect for anything weird... and if I find anything they'll qt until they're free of whatever it is I found.

thanks for the help
