Living my 75G SPS Dream Tank - Monthly Pics

I have a very similar setup. If you figure out why your corals are lightening please let me know. I am fighting a similar issue and dowtish won't come by and check it out :) (You should see his tank it is awesome! )

Been working hard to get my tank into shape though and slowly making progress. You are off to a good start and I hope you have a lot of success!

I added two montiporas at the beginning of this week and moved a few things around. I also have a mystery wrasse in QT. Can't wait to get him into the DT! Here is a FTS from today and shots of the two Montis...

I tried a GE6500 in place of the Coral + but at the time, I thought it was a bit too bright. I still have it though and may try it again.

Thanks very much and will do. :)

You're doing a great job so far :-). I wouldn't worry much about the slightly pale colors. The tank is only a few months old after all. Once you get a few more fish in there, things should deepen up.

Looks sweet ! You have some very nice corals .

How u like the sump and skimmer I'm looking for a new sump hate mine.

Thank you. On my sump, the build quality was great but I made a couple of design errors so I ended up replacing that sump. (it is for sale if anyone is interested. :) ) I ordered a new sump from Elite Aquatics. It seems to be well built, not as sturdy as the Next Reef because it is made of thinner acrylic but I don't think I needed the size acrylic that Next Reef used. The thing I like about the new sump is the filter sock design. It is VERY easy and quick to change the filter sock. Also the design facilitate the Herby drain where you need to get a syphon going from your drain. I used to have problems with that but not with this one. And then it has some extras like heater brackets, probe holders...etc. I will post a picture when I have a chance.

And on the skimmer, it is excellent. I love it. The only thing about that is they should include the vent pipe in the price of the skimmer. I had to order one as an accessory. But it works very well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pat

Well yes I agree I hate the Noise it make where did you perchance from I'm trying to put on mine . Home Depot or every other place I drive around did not have piping that would fit ... :(

I broke down and bought one from CoralVue. Here is the link...

If you try to buy plain PVC, I believe the sizes are Metric. This one is "40mm" so I guess you order 40mm pipe but not 100% sure. You could post on the CoralVue forum or message CoralVue. Good luck.

BUMP! Update waaaaaay overdue. :D Would love to know how this tank is doing. Thanks.

Hi, you are right! I do need to update. Thanks for posting here. I have had some challenges but the tank is doing well. I will take some pictures tomorrow and share with some more comments.

OK, thanks again for asking for an update. I have gone through a numbers of challenges with my tank over the past 4-6 months but I seem to be coming out the other side of it in a pretty good place. To start with I have had a continued issue with low nutrients and therefore pale and seemingly weak corals. While some of my corals are still pale, I think it is a matter of giving it more time. I continue to get better color and growth.

The other issue I had was I ended up with AEFW in my tank. Luckily my tank wasn't wiped out and I seem to have gotten rid of them but I did lose quite a few corals. And needless to say I now have an SPS capable QT tank! :)

Since then I have added a few more corals and after the holidays I plan to add a couple more along with a few mores fish. With my tank approaching one year in operation, I think it is reaching a level of maturity that I hope will sustain SPS even better.

I will post again with some technical details on my tank and my current care routine but for now, here are some growth shots and a FTS.

Thanks for looking!
