Hallo guys,

I am Remy from the Netherlands. I started with a rimless reeftank 250 ltr 100x50x50.

The basic rule is 1 kg living stone on 1 ltr water. In case of that i need 25 kg.

But i wont want to many stone in my tank. Can i put some stone in my sump without any problem?

Thank you :)

Hi remy
Just to be clear, it's 1 kilo per 10 liter, so you are correct at 25 kilo. Your equation would be 250 kilo :) too much!

Many people have tanks with less than the rule and it's ok. Also some rocks are less dense which is better, but weighs less. When I set up my tank I used less than the rule, and saved the rock in case it was needed, it was not. So I still have ~2/3# per gallon. It is easy to add rock if necessary.
If you chose to put it in the sump, try to arrange it for easy cleaning and good flow. You want to avoid a situation where the water slows when it arrives there and waste falls out of suspension into the rocks creating a mess. It is good to be able to access underneath the rocks to remove detritus, either by lifting the rocks or using a vacuum tube.
