ne1 here use those lights of america ( flourex) lights?
i was browsing my local hd and found em
a 65 watter, a 85 watter, and a 100 watter
i also saw plenty of halogen floods (tell me again why we cant use the halogens -besides the heat factor?)
i had the 65 watter and i have to say it was quite brite and a bit hot
please chime in on this?

If you are wanting to use this for a refug then that is fine. The color is all wrong for using them on the main tank.

Lights of America lights burn at 6500K. They make wonderful refugium lights that produce very little heat. In fact, I use (2) 135w outputs over my refugium. The 6500K is very good at algal growth and do quite a good job at coral growth. But they aren't powerful enough to penetrate for a full blown aquarium display and usually won't support much more than soft corals and occassionally LPS
