Loc Line Reduced Flow

My Nuvo Fusion 30L has two return nozzles connected to the stock 476 gph water pump. When I tried using a Loc Line Y-splitter on each nozzle to redirect the flow in 4 directions, I noticed the flow was significantly reduced.
Why is this?
Would upgrading to a more powerful pump, such as a Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0 (568 gph), help this issue?

Because loc line adds resistance to your plumbing, thus impeding flow. I dislike it for this reason and don't use it.

Thanks for the reply. By the way, I solved the problem. I will use two pumps, one for each return outlet. I tested this with an old extra pump I had, and I know it will work. The old pump is not powerful enough, so I plan on getting two Sicce Silent 1.5 pumps for the job. These have adjustable flow rates and should work great. I will eventually have good flow in 4 directions, eliminating some problem dead spots.

Why not one large pump?

if you split 2 outlets into 4, your flow is also going to be halved (approximate) at each nozzle. any restriction (y splitter, elbow, bend, etc.) will reduce flow in general, but adding outlets will have a huge effect on the flow at each output. a larger pump is a good option, or a powerhead in the tank.

Why Two Pumps?

Why Two Pumps?

I decided to go with two pumps for a few reasons. First, one larger pump equal in GPH to the two (I'm going with a couple of Sicce Syncra 2.0's instead of the 1.5's, by the way) will probably be too wide to fit in the back chamber of the sump system. Second, these pumps have adjustable flow rates, so I can fine tune each one for opposite sides of the tank. Third, if one pump happens to break down, I will still be able to maintain some flow in the tank until the second pump can be replaced. As a side note, the Sicce Syncra 2.0 has a 3/4 inch nozzle, while the Nuvo Fusion 30L is fitted for 1/2 inch tubing. So, I have to get a couple of reducers to hook it all up. If this all works according to plan, I will have the most awesome flow ever. :D
