local ASM modders???

is anyone/does anybody know an ASM modder? I would really like to increase the productivity of my skimmer but I'm a little nervous about doing it all alone. Anyone on the north side that could offer assistance?

I was toying with making mine a recirc but Jeremy (PA) and Rod both said no benefit vs risk of drilling so why do it? I think adamatic is interested in mangling the needlewheel to do the scrubbie mod. Email I have received has reported 1) wildly variable and inconsistent results with each mod done and 2) wildly fluctuating results for each mod individually as it is used. So, I'm not going to do that mod either.

Thanks though, Doug.

I did the recirc mod and it increased the amount of skim that I got within hours. Then I contemplated the mesh wheel, I got a couple of beers in me and said what the heck! I was impressed, loads of foam. In fact I did the mesh wheel to a turboflotor as well and now the pump is overkill for that little skimmer. I was nervous about drilling my ASM though, I could just see the teeth on the hole saw catching and mangling my skimmer. So it used a new hole saw and drilled a pilot hole and then put the drill in reverse and ground through. No problems. The hardest part of the mesh wheel is getting the guts to chop up the needle wheel.

know what I did that improved my asm???
I put a elbow inside and pointed the flow down
That did wonders and it works just fine lol

Sorry, I had to go to bed. I am using a G3 with sedra 5000, and the mesh was the same stuff that mavgi was using. The expanded mesh not the scrub pad stuff.

I woul love to see pics of the needle wheel mods
my g3 has had several mods second pump with a sedra9000 and recircuit on both pump so I have to feed the skimmer with another pump I also have the gate valve but dont use it dont see the point of it

I have a G3 with Recirc, gate valve, and mewheel. I feed with a MJ900. I havent bought the airflow meter yet, but I am pretty sure the Mesh works just by the increased sucking sound in the venturi. I definetly noticed a difference in skimmate production. The body on ASM was easy to drill and the uniseals work great.
" YOU CAN DO IT"

I am at work so pics are not available, but the meshwheel mod is easy and it gives me alot more foam. The foam seems to get backed up about half-way up the cone, which I never saw with just the recirc mod.

I would love to see a pic if at all possible this seems like something I would like to try at least one of my pumps out on

Here are some pics, sorry they are so big but trying to get pic of tiny bubble is hard.

I put 2 90deg elbows facing down inside the skimmer body, where the pvc from the pump output goes in. So far it seems the skimmer is about 30% more efficient just with that! I may try the mesh mod but would buy a new impeller first.

FYI I am not so sure you can still get the impellers from that link as that company is gone, they switched over to Octopus skimmers IIRC.
