When you add in the gas for the boat ,it ain't cheap. You have to make the trip count. It's not like driving down to the beach. This is why I bring back 80 gal at a time. Ted
My 55 has had 3 or 4 10gal water changes of NSW and its doing great! (I was affraid to put it in my main tank:rollface: ). I'm gonna start collecting water from about 10 miles out. We'll see how that works, my boats not as big as Teds so I'm not going out that far....
.......so, ReefRubble. How can I bribe you to get a lot of water for me? Can I pay for quite a bit of gas for the boat trip? Let me know. I could use, well....a LOT! You aren't TOO far away. I could bring up large buckets/cans one day and pick the water up whenever you got the chance to go out. Let me know!
Due to reports of minor red tide in and around Dunedin, I decided to run up north of Anclote Island in order to restock on NSW. Dead fish everywhere! I went as far as about a mile north of the Cotee River in NPR and still lots of dead fish. I then went about 5 miles offshore (marine forecast called for 2' seas offshore - seas in the bay were 2'+) and still lots of dead fish. And this was with a reasonably "high" high tide this morning.
So caution to anyone in this area or a bit north about using NSW until this latest red tide outburst passes.
