Local source for Water container?

I'd like to set up a gravity-fed auto-topoff system. I'm looking for a local source for a plastic jug or water container that I could add bulkheads to in order to create a small holding tank above my sump.

Once a day (on a timer) I'll pump water up to the holding tank from my RO/DI storage tank. Any overflow will drain back to the RO/DI system.

Any idea where to go locally where I could touch and feel what I'm buying? Also, favorite source for bulkheads?

Thanks.

The transparent bluish plastic jugs that you flip over onto a water dispenser? I'm using one of those for my skimmer overflow. Problem is once you open them there's no way to seal the top.

I was thinking of something a little squarer, like the container that came with your Kent Aquadoser.

Hey Alan, hope you can post your plans or results when you get to the project. I'm thinking of doing something similar, rather than buy an automated topoff.

Are you going to use some sort of float switch?

Yes. I plan to mount a float switch in the final stage of my sump (where there is the greatest daily change in water level).

The purpose for this small water container is to limit the amount of fresh water that could be dumped into the tank in the event the float switch ever fails. I think I got the original idea from an article written by Durso.

Exactly. Good idea. I looked into float switches, plastic ones, for maybe $30. as long as the switch is loweer than the output of your water resivoir, it should work. But havent tried it yet. Let us know how it goes!

Camping section at Walmart has collapseable (sp) water containers that are cube shaped. They have a screw on cap/spicot that you could match up pretty easily to. Maybe.

Stix/Jocephus,

Great ideas. I'll need to check them out to see if I would be able to install bulkheads or uniseals for the fill and drain.
