local vets for interceptor

Does anyone know of a vet on the east side that is familiar with the use of interceptor on marine tanks? I have a quarantine tank with a couple of infested frags that are starting to lose their colors?

I ask because when I lived in the Rochester NY area, my local vet absolutely refused despite all of the links and documentation about interceptor and redbugs.

Without being an existing client or without a rapport, I can imagine you probably run into issues getting one to prescribe it. Its a large liability for them.

That's what I was afraid to hear (though I somewhat expected it).

I guess I can just order it from australia again - it's what I did when this cure was first found several years ago and it worked pretty well.

I thought someone was saying it was available at the TSC's? Its the pig stuff right? I might be wrong though

Thanks the Levamasole for FWs. As far as I know Interceptor for Heartworm still requires a prescription. The primary reason its still prescribed vs over the counter is you have to test for HW before administering. If you dose a dog or cat that already has heartworm, it can cause complication.

Some vets will prescribe it for your tank. However, like I said, I doubt they will do it for a walk in without any kind of rapport. You may want to look up a vet that deals in exotics such as reptiles, birds and small animals. IME, they tend to be more open as this type of veterinary medicine requires a bit more creativity as there are limited available treatments.

I have some that you can buy from me. I just bought a batch for the next 6 months, and my vet doesn't give me any problems. Let me know if you're interested. I can't imagine you need more than one, and I'll just figure out what I paid for one. If anyone else needs any, let me know.

As a side note, I have the 50-100 lbs tablets. I'm not sure how much you need, but I'm sure 1 is enough.

Sorry, I was away for a while. Next week I'll go to my vet and get another batch. If you want any, just reply to this thread, and I'll post when I get the stuff. (this all sounds much more sketchy than it should :)
