Locals who run ozone

I just picked up an used red sea deluxe 200 ozonizer. I was curious what types of ozone beads people were using. Any other experiences as well.

Thanks

Mark
all the beads are a desicant the remove moisture from the air. the O3 is generated in the box with a high powered light.

They say that the beads (by removing moisture) help keep the generators efficiency. W/o the beads you are looking at a 50% drop in output efficienty, approximately. There was a great article in a past Reefkeeping magazine by Randy I think. Maybe do a search on their web site to see if you can locate it. Definitely a good read.

Anyone know where to get the drying beads and canister, and diffuser for an 03 unit? I also picked up a bare unit 2nd hand, and now I need I need to extra stuff to put it into service.

Thanks,

John

Marko-
If you don't have an air dryer, Marine depot has them. Just search under "red sea air dryer". Also, those beads in the red sea dryers will turn pink after awhile and you'll need to recharge them by taking them out of the air dryer and baking them in your oven for a couple hours.

I got the air drier, but no beads.

John- Maybe we can go in together on a order if we find a deal on them.

Mark,

After reading Randy Holmes Farly's article I'm not going to use the Corallife reactor. I am considering running straight into my protein skimmer. I may also do a DIY reactor. I'm am just not sure about hoe to get the ozone into the water coulomb.

I will be ordering a dryer from Marine Depot soon ether way though. If you decide to get a new one let me know and we can split the shipping.

I will let you know. I know Tim runs ozone as well. I am waiting for hime to chime in as well.

good call anthony (little_d)! you get a bunch of it at a good price. also, those air dryers that are sold are really small and aren't worth it imho. you'll be re-charging them every week.

what i did was ghetto but works well. took an old marineland black diamond carbon container, drilled a couple holes at opposite ends and connected airline tubing to feed the ozonator.

i think i recharge the beads like every 2 months.

hey guys,
FWIW, I have one of those red sea ozonizers and I just run the O3 through my skimmer. works fine, water stays really clear.

i'm have the ozone output line and both venturi feed lines for the skimmers shoved into a 5/8" line. the skimmers draw the ozone in, nothing fancy.

Tim,

have you seen any adverse effects to your pump impeller or other components of your skimmer?

no adverse effects on my euroreefs or the sedras that run them. you still need to do routine maintenance on the pumps by keeping the venturi ports clear though. also, the other end of that 5/8 line draws air in from outside.

umm, probably a dumb question, did you want a pic of the tank or the ozonizer and skimmer?
