These are from your friend's pair right? You know, it's possible you got a bad batch of eggs, or something affecting the broodstock nutrition at a critical point. If memory serves, this guy put chemi-clean in his reef at one point -- this is not the typical action of a breeder nurturing broodstock to get healthy eggs. He may have done something similar while caring for his reef and didn't think anything of it in the way you might have.
