Long nose hawkfish

Hello everyone,
So I have been doing tons of research about the long nose hawkfish and I think one might be good for my 34 gallon mixed reef. So far in the tank is just a sixline and a bicolor blenny among a bunch of hermits and snails. In my research of the hawkfish it says add them last so I would add a clown fish first but my question is if anyone has experience with these awesome fish if they could post their opinions here, I also have a hot pink rose bubble tip, so I read one article saying have caution with them if there is anemone in the tank, is that because the anemone could eat them because I'm pretty sure the rbtas are not very predatory

I have had one in my tank for a year or so. I really enjoy watching him. It is usually a game to find where he has perched himself. If you have small fish or shrimp they may decide to make them a snack. He does not bother any of my fishes but I have gone out of my way to not get aggressive fish. My only concern is the sixline, they seem to be quite unpredictable and in a smaller tank tend to be on the more aggressive side. good luck just my 2 cents worth.

You may want to consider posting in the check here before you buy thread at the top of the forum. Snorvich would be able to give you a good answer.

Ok I will post in the check before you buy when I am a bit closer to a decision but I agree with your statement about the sixline, he seems very peaceful so far but who knows what he will do, also I don't plan on getting any shrimps and the two fish are not very small comparatively to the long nose, also unrelated would a sixline kill a clownfish?

I love my long nose. I had a hard time getting him to eat but now he's a pig. When I feed he sticks his nose inside the turkey baster. He can see that thing across the room and goes right to the surface and starts pecking at the top. Mine is really calm and doesn't bother anyone.

My longnose is calm and doesn't bother his more peaceful tankmates either. Big eater and comes to the top of the tank whenever I walk by hoping to be fed. Always like to look at the tank to see where he's perched now.

I loved my longnose. Be sure to have a cover on your tank though. I played the game of looking for him...twice I found him in the coast to coast overflow. One morning I woke up and did not see him perched on the rocks, did not see him in the overflow. Found Ocean Max dried up on the floor behind the tank. :(. I now have a canopy fully enclosed but still need to add a higher barrier on the overflow before I try again.

That sucks, I'm sorry. I think mine is too lazy to jump out. He likes to hang upside down on the rocks, because he is a weirdo
