Longnose butterfly feeding

I bought a long nose butterfly about 5 weeks ago. Quarantined for 4 weeks. He's been in dt for a week. He ate great in qt, real pig, but he's a little skinny. He eats good in dt. My dt is 300 gallon fish only. He has to compete with 4 med sized tangs and 1 other butterfly and several damsels for food. Does anyone have suggestions for a feeding tool that will allow him to get more food since he's a slow eater and it's difficult to compete with tank mates?

Hi, I've just joined RF and was looking around when I saw your post. I had a Copperband and he had trouble competing for food with other tank mates.
This work - Turn off any power heads and wait for the water to stop moving. I used to work all the other fish to one end of the tank and give them food. For the Copperband I used a pippet from an old water test kit and 'squirted' Brine Shrimp at the Copperband. It worked fine since all his tank mates were away busy attacking the main bulk of food, the CB was able to pick and choose what was being fired at him. CB was fat, ate like a pig but he still died after about 8 weeks. Even though he was a chunky fish and was eating, IMO he still wasn't getting the right amount of food or the right type of food.
Best of luck with your CB.

Make a PVC tube with holes drilled in it large enough for his nose to fit through. Stuff food in there, cap it, and throw it in the tank.
