Longnose Hawkfish - Oxycirrhites typus

I must say i'm very pleased with my new addition - Longnose Hawkfish (Oxycirrhites typus). My tank has been set up for almost 2 years and I finally realized I no longer keep pepermint shrimp, which was the reason I didn't get this fish earlier. Great fish who is out all the time and doesn't hide. And he looks awesome.

Gets along great with my CBB, Melanurus wrasse, strawberry pseudeo, bicolor blenny, candycane hogfish.

Eats mysis, homemade meaty mix, & flake.

Pictures soon to come.

Quite the awesome fish. I had a pair a few years back and they both jumped. I'd recommend some type of tank cover if you don't have one already.

Yes, they do jump. If you have no shrimp, they are excellent, and you might also consider another ambush predator, the Flame Hawkfish, Neocirrhites armatus.

thanks for the heads up. I do have a canopy, but i need to go ahead and get the window screen kit with clear mesh from home depot to keep all my investments in the tank and out of overflow.
