looing for live rock jam packed with critters and life

Hey everyone im about to order some live rock for my 75g rebuild and I was wondering if any of you know if Tampa bay saltwater had the kind of rock my title states.
 
Yes, they do, but keep in mind it will likely come with some unwanted hitchhikers as well, mantis shrimp/xanthid crabs.
 
Most of Tampa Bay rock is real dense,not porous enough to have much life inside it. Most of it's life is on the outside.Blue zoo aquatics offers a real good liverock.
 
Actually you would be surprised how much life is in that stuff, even though it is dense rock. I've cracked open TBS rock several times and have seen what's inside. And months later things still show up that you never knew you had. Their rock is literally pulled out of the gulf and shipped to you the next day or just a couple days later... it doesn't get much more "live" than that. Blue Zoo might be doing the same thing, I don't know. But I can definitely vouch for the life on TBS rock. It's astounding. And the other bonus is all the extra goodies Richard includes in "The Package" free of charge. You end up with an instant reef with only a 1 week cycle and lots of color.
 
Wow thanls for all of the quick responses you all and I think I'm gonna go with the. Also with them is 75 pounds of rock alot or does it not look like 75 pounds and ill have to order more for my tank?
 
TBS is amazing! Richard may say that the pack has required amount of rock but don't beleive him. I ordered the 30g package for my 29. There was WAY more rock than I could have stuffed into a 29, I gave away a solid 50% of it. on part 2 of the package there were so many extra's he sent that I gave away half of that as well... I really wish I would have gotten a pic of it when pt2 arrived it looked like a heavily stocked and overgrown planted tank.

I did get some not so nice hitchhikers, I got a bunch of gorilla crabs, rock crabs, some pistols which I found out are harmless, and 1 mantis which I know wish I had back :) The other side of the coin is 20ish porcilin crabs, dozens of snails, hermits, corals, I even had a fish alive and kicking in the rock! After 1 year I am still finding new stuff on it... I now have 2 urchins that I never bought and I have no clue where they came from.

I give TBS my 100% vote IF and only if you are willing to take the time when it comes in to get the nasties off. I can teach you how to do it very eaily if you want :)
 
Raggamuccin.... Yes the TBS is great... would like to hear how you get the nasties off.. We have our 2nd shipment coming Saturday.. ordered it tuesday. Sunday will be 2 weeks since we got the first shipment. Only saw one crab and it was smashed. 5 days in we had somewhere between 6 and 8 Crabs. Hard to tell what they are.. don't look like a lot of the pictures. Now trying to get them without hurting our urchins and an unknown anemone. Sure most are bad.. cause they are hairy.. but so little they don't show on pictures. Found a dead one tuesday this week. Brown and white striped legs... not hairy.. and I think there maybe one more like that one. And then tuesday night we heard the dreaded popping.. haven't seen it... can't seem to find it.. and the popping is getting oftener now. Any ideas?
 
any rock you get from the pacific won't have near the life that the TBS rock does once it finally makes it to the states. He pretty much harvests and ships within the same week.

Could be pistols or mantis or both. Hard to tell. Just keep an eye out, you may eventually spot a mantis. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's been a year and my tank still pops and that's after removing a few mantis. I think it's just pistols now which are pretty harmless. All my other shrimp are still in the tank and accounted for. :lmao:
