Look what Brian Greene Just Cuaght!

a pair of johnsoni finally arrived in my country!

but prices way too expensive to buy. more expensive than what the US and japan people are buying them for.

Perhaps here is why...

Kwajalein->US wholesaler->US retailer
Kwajalein->US wholesaler->Japan retailer
Kwajalein->US wholesaler->Singapore wholesaler->Singapore retailer

Copps

Wow, talk about a long chain of custody for these guys to get to Singapore!

Sorry Lemon, but based on the fish you're keeping I'm not feeling THAT bad for you :)

David, if you saw the true chain of custody of some South pacific fish it's insane... trust me these guys are flying first class throughout their journey and chain of custody is no issue... :spin3:

I dont think they have wholsellers---> retailer in S'pore, especially not for fish of that caliber.

If these fish are caught on Marshall so they can get to Japan, HK and LA quite easily.

They do have wholesalers in Singapore Vili... I have no idea if that's the reason for the price though... Japanese and the US retailers got them direct.

These fish are caught on Kwajalein Atoll, a considerable distance from Majuro, the regular and much more populated hub of Marshall's fish. The station was set up on Kwaj by a Hawaiian wholesaler, who is the only one who could legally export from there. Every fish goes through Hawaii.

John, do you have any pictures of the Bellae when they're not flashing? I can't seem to find any online!

Also, any more info about availability timeframe and pricing would be great!

yes Singapore do have wholesalers.

the particular shop tends to overprice their things anyway. given time, other shops will get it (i hope) and the price will be way more reasonable.

i'll wait till then :)

may i ask why are P. bellae so much rarer than johnsoni? they're shallower right?

no i missed out ,didn't get a chance to even look but i do appreciate the heads up .i have been spread pretty thin lately and not actually master of my domain but i am trying .

I was thinking of picking the pair up from NYaquatics when I picked up my some fish yesterday afternoon. But he said they were in his tank @ home. And I really want to see them in person before buying them. Oh well, I can wait and let the hype die down a bit. BTW he is doing a very large expension in another location, triple his old capacity, and I am sure he will get a lot more stuff and rare stuff in very soon. I think he said Hawaii next week with some 4" Bandits.

The wrasses are beautiful but just not my cup of tea. Any updates as to how these fish are holding up? Also what else does Mr. green have planned to catch in the future. I know it was said previously but, SUESS. Look at this fish. All business!
