Based on what I read here
Neptune AC Jr
if you are using one of the DC's "Direct Connect" you dont have to have the control interface. The DC4 has a lower amperage rating so it isnt recommended for icecap ballast while the DC4HD "Heavy Duty" and DC8 will run the icecaps. There is about $20 difference between the DC4HD and DC8 so I guess you would have to decide how many outlets you need . The moon phases and season control appear to be part of the AC Jr's programming.

yes you need the dc8 and i would get a dc4hd if you are going to put a chiller on it as well. i have my pfo mh ballast (a 175w dual) and my pfo electronic vho ballast on one dc8 with no problems but i don't have the chiller on there as well.
just don't put more than 15 amps on it, i believe that's the limit. but if you add a dc4hd and plug it in on another circuit you will have no problem.
