Looking For A Fish Suggestion

Alaskan Reefer

New member
125 mixed reef, mostly SPS, heavy flow BB -- can't do sand lovers. I have 5 fish, but want just a little more movement via fish or inverts. Current stock:

Ocellaris Clown
Yellow Tang
Powder Brown
Longnose Hawk
Pseudochromis Flavivertex

Any ideas on something that won't peck my corals and might fit in with this group?

What about a school of fish? Green chromis and chalk basslets are two that pop into my head... I love the look of a school and wish I could fit a school in my 55...

I'm a fan of the fairy and flasher wrasses myself.

Even a school of flasher wrasses would look awesome but I'd think the pseudo and the hawkfish might pester them too much... I tried a few flasher's and my orchid dottyback who'se supposed to be the most peacefull dottyback killed one and the other died because it hid all day...

you didnt mention if you have shrimp or not. If you don't, why not try a longnose hawk or a flame hawk. Great personality and colourful. If you do have shrimp, maybe you could try a midas blenny or a bicolour blenny.

I recently added four anthias to my tank. They have very nice colors to them. It took a week or so for them to start swimming about, but now they are everywhere. I also like the wrasses noted above.

depending on the size of your hawks, we have an african midas blenny that is very active and super colorful.

A nice lineatus or powder brown tang would add movement and color as well.

I'd get a couple of Halicheores wrasses. I've had them in my barebottom for a long time without issue, very personable and active fish.

Wow some excellent responses. I've never tried Anthias, but think they're beautiful. I've got a longnose hawk already, which I think prevents me from doing any shrimp -- he's small, but that's not a risk I'm interested in cleaner shrimp are too cool to risk. :) I'm going to look at the Midas and the school of Anthias I reckon -- failing that the green chromis school sounds decent as well.
