I have all of the CAD finished for the sump for my 93g cube. If anyone has leads to a reputable, affordable acrylic sump builder, please let me know.

Thanks.

Kevin

humm most people just build there own out of whatever size tank they want their sump, it's not hard to do some aquarium safe silicone and acrylic or glass panels is all you need well and the tank..

Lifereef does custom acrylic sumps, Jeff does really nice work and his customer service is second to none. Don't know if he'd be considered affordable, though.

Lifereef sumps look amazing however his build time is very long. He only does so many per month and right now has taking orders for November. I would check your local forum and see who the recommend. I would love a life reef sump but I don't know if I could wait that long.

I've heard good things about
http://advancedacrylics.com/

Thanks, fairladyz. Unfortunately, my experience with John at Advance Acrylics left a huge amount to be desired and after 3 years I'm still very unhappy. Please see my thread on this topic. That's $1,300 I'll never get back. A year to deliver, broken sump, missing parts, no response to make it right in almost 2 years plus. I'd recommend against them.

Best,

Kev

oh wow sorry to hear that. never saw your previous thread.. I did some research on them when i was considering them for a sump and always heard good things.

I ended up going with elite aquatics anyway ;)

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with John and Advanced Acrylic. I've had both good and bad with them. Great products, but made me wait an extra month. In the end, he comp'd me 20% off on the purchase. I'm not too angry over it anymore..

I could've felt a lot better about the entire ordeal if John, or Jeff from Reef Dynamics (the shipper who never responded at all to damage claims) would have just acknowledged the damage, missing parts, etc. Even a "Tough luck, sorry about that, now go take a flyin' leap" would've been better than dead silence. You know, I never ever sent those guys a crappy message, or called them and cursed at them, I just wanted it made right. John sent me an email on my phone almost 9 months after delivery saying that he was building a new sump for me, but nothing ever became of that. I still have all of the emails, phone calls, texts, etc...

I have always said that John is a real craftsman. His business practices are what soured me.

I'm curious to see your design if you're willing to share. I do CAD work and always like seeing people's projects in 3D :)

I am always willing to share! Here's the sump to fit an Octopus SRO-1000 under the 93g cube. It fits because the stand is a copy of d2mini's and has a 6" larger footprint in L X W than a basic stand. Size is 22 X 32 X 15H.

It is attached in the PDF. Enjoy.

Looks good! The one regret I have about getting a 65 gal tank is that the footprint of the stand is only about 30 x 20. I put some baffles into a 20 gal tank (24x12x16h) for my sump and it barely fits into the stand.
