Looking for a reef controller

 Well I'm glad you like it.

And I know you're stalking my stats... you compliment me when I don't even know my pH is up!

"Hey Brandon... nice pH man... I was at the bar last night and noticed your tank reached 8.1..." "Umm... ok, Rick. Thanks... I think."

All this talk and no one has any Ideas why this Salinity probe has gone from a correct reading of 35ppt to now reading 31.8 with no change on my other methods of checking, Which Include a Refractometer and Swing Arm Hydrometer only the probe has changed. And It Is trending lower daily. How about It Andy you know the DA people personally, Do you think I should call him to ask for another Probe? Recalibration only last a day maybe less!

8.1 is pushing it :D

BTW your Reefnook and RKE don't like each other ;)

Im glad you all are having this discussion right now. Im actually looking into getting a controller....:fun4:

Hey guys!
I wanna jump in here and say I am looking for a controller as well, I am not familiar with all these DC8, DC4, X10 outlets I see that come with the units but I guess that's a learning curve.
What I want is an easy controller that will let me control my temp, PH, salinity, heater, chiller, lighting, etc..., things like that, not anything insane.
Do you have any recomandations?
P.s.
Does any of these controllers come in a 220v option for europe?

$$$$

$$$$

Mixer, i'm guessing you have over $600 invested in your controller. You are comparing apples to oranges when you compare that to a $99 RKL. The RKE with >$600 invested will absolutely do anything any other controller of equal cost will do. I see this all of the time on the net, someone spends a bunch of money on something and they feel like they have to spend their time on the net defending that product or running down other competing products. This guy was looking for something cheap.

RKM-SL1, ID 5 Temp
Error
RKM-SL1, ID 5 pH
Error

I'll look into that.

For what its worth, Chuck, those are totally not on Reefnook's end! I took out my SL1, added my SL2, and I haven't deleted the SL1 in the unit yet. :) So no worries on your end...

I think what it comes down to is that most of us are simply trying to justify the amount of money we've spent on our tanks, and there's just no way for that to happen. :D

Actually I have only about $275 invested in my ACjr :) and I can monitor and control it from my phone  and It does everythin I need at this point and I don't have to spend over $600. I agree the with the statement you made "The RKE with >$600 invested will absolutely do anything any other controller of equal cost will do. There are a lot of people that do this and I think its funny.

I also have used 2 RKL's (on my dad's Freshwater Tanks) and gotta say I am not to happy with them. In reality, comparing the RKL to the ACjr is appropriate and I gotta says hands down the ACjr is better IMHO
