looking for active, bright, inexpensive fish

I'm looking for a few fish to stock my 57 rimless (36 long by 18 deep) that are going to be bright, active, and fairly inexpensive.

It's not covered. It's rimless no canopy and won't be covered hence the inexpensive. I'll save the earlei, rhomboid, lineatus, etc. for the other display tank that is covered.

I recently added a pair of McCloskey's to my 120, and they fit the bill. That said, wrasses are notorious for going carpet surfing.

Toby puffers are interesting and outgoing. They don't have much of a reputation for jumping, but my girlfriend's valentini went carpet surfing not that long ago.

We ran a 57g rimless (with under rim cover) before we set up our current system.

We have an under edge cover for our rimless 205.

I like hi fin gobies, pearly jawfish, bangaii cardinals (captive bred), flasher wrasses, barnacle blennies, a. percula clowns, and assesor basslets (captive bred) for a 57.

All good suggestions so far! I'll research them and see if they get along.

Can you post a picture of your 57 cover so I can see how you did it?

Sorry, but just because a fish is cheap, doesn't mean you should risk its life with an uncovered tank.

Maybe I'm a little crazy, especially since I really like fried fish.

Just picked up a Blue/Green Chromis yesterday (store couldn't catch his buddy). Nice colored active fish.

I don't have a photo any more, sorry. The 57g for a time had a below-rim cover made of glass that balanced on neat little plastic thingies which shimmied over the sides of the glass. After we broke it, we used a BRS kit to build a cover. We have a similar cover on our 205 now, it rests on 3 corners and is "cut out" around our corner over flow. Inexpensive to make and does not IMHO detract from the rimless appearance of our ELOS 160XL. The BRS kits are easy to use, I would try one. Any fish with jump given the right circumstances. I wouldn't take the risk if I were you.

Bee grouper fish. I saw one at the store today and was thinking of trading in some of my coral for him. He is a dark defined black with bright yellow squiggles.
