Reason also for the high price on DD is the small size. I think the guy on ebay had one about the same size for $2,800.

That would be correct. 3" specimans have been fetching a premium lately but we are at least starting to see them in the US.

I think it is a poor policy given this fish's repuation. They ship poorly and the seller is basically an unknown in this industry.

Interesting how he is a relative unknown, but he got conspics and gem tangs. Even juvi gem tangs.

since you guyz were talking about some of the rare angels, i wanted to give you a heads up that there is a joculator angel up on that auction site. it is for sale by my lfs, i have seen it and he looks great. if you are up for spending bucks on a rare pygmy angel, this might be your ticket.

There is a big difference between a 3.5" Conspic to a 6-8" Conspic.
The 3.5" ones are rarely seen anywhere but Japan and are sold for very high prices .
Lately the US sole importer for this fish started to get 3-4" specimen and even one smaller.
The price is MUCH higher already in NC.

For the Gems,there is a word that they are not legit, I wonder how they got into America.

From what I know, one only is importing direct the other is second hand.

Vili, are you referring to gems or the conspics... if the conspics then... from what I know, both are importing direct from different New Caledonian suppliers... and the pricing seems to confirm that...

Hello there,
I dont want to sound like if I know what's happening in NC, but from what I do know there is one guy who's exporting to very few people around the world.

There are two Asian importers who might be the source to the other American importer , since I do know the Asian market, I know they are selling their fish for very low profit as always.

In HK for example a Conspic shipment is gone within 36hrs. the major qtty is sold to the local market and a few exported.

For the Gems its too early to talk now.

Vili, what you explain about the conspics is entirely possible... I heard they are coming from another exporter in NC, without going into too much detail, but I could be entirely misinformed...
