Looking for info on Vibrant Reef Aquarium Cleaner

The product might contain an algicide similar to the Algae-X product. Without any clear description, we can only guess.

They broke down the ingredients but doesnt mean that's accurate and that other ingredients leaves a lot open.

Vibrant Liquid Aquarium Cleaner Ingredients -

95% Cultured Bacteria Blend
1% Amino Acids (Aspartic Acid)
0.5% Vinegar - This is used as the preservative
3.5% Other Ingredients (RO/DI Water)

Fwiw I posted a video now too in that up close thread. I'm very curious what the bacteria are attached to. The video is of the longest strand I found by far. I have to get up closer but the liquid is very "slippery" so need to secure the cover slip.

Edit: Sorry, TMZ already posted that above. I'm in to many vibrant threads now. Why I'm going to have some fun with it. The rep already said it wouldn't be very fair for me to disclose to much but anyone can do what I'm doing. Not like I work for a competing company and have a sophisticated lab. Its a folding table, laptop, and a microscope... ha! Though I do have some cool stains. ;)

On this website, they claim that their bacterial product

"Clarifies water in water column by eating algae, and suspended/free floating organic matter, and dissolved organics in the water column"

Their products are primarily for FW pond applications. However, some can be used in a marine environment.

Unfortunately, none of their individual product specs specifically state that the bacteria will eat algae.

I'm way behind in getting things posted but there is something to this stuff. I'm definitely noticing an effect.

It still concerns me a bit as it seems to be a potent or "agressive" heterotrophic type(s) of bacteria like the streptococcus sp found. I wouldn't dose beyond the recommended dosage which doesn't seem like it would be much and wouldn't get it on any open sores.(just my paranoia).

I need to get more pics/vids posted and potentially a split off thread.

Great info Jason. I ordered and dosed my 75g 8yr old reef tank four days ago and so far the only thing I see is that all of my green and red mushrooms that cover most of the tank rock have closed up. No die off, just closed and not happy for the last two days. Small bits of cyano still kicking and I'm not sure if I sure continue with next dose 7.5ml if mushrooms and maybe other corals will be afffected. Anyone have any similar issue or feedback on whether to dose again? All other corals such as birds nest and plates seem fine.

Every tank could have different issues resulting in different reactions.

But my red mushrooms have been looking normal.

This is from a couple days ago.

My cyano was pushed back a lot right at first but then came back and now receeding slowly.

Thanks, I'll wait a few days and see if they open up. I'll put a picture up if I can after santa comes for the kids!

Glimmer of Hope

Glimmer of Hope

I'm not saying anything for certain but having had dino for over a year today is the first time I really think any of it even looks like it could be dying. I've been using Vibrant for a little over a week, some of the dino on the sand bed has turned very dark and matted up into a thick string that is very different than ever before, I know check it in two weeks and let you know. Hopeful!

This morning when inspecting the tank before the lights come on I see the same dark, thick rolls of algae that I saw yesterday. This also gives me some encouragement because most of the dino breaks up in darkness and is not as prevalent. Did not mention in last post but I don't think the slim bubbles were as noticeable all over everything, still there just maybe not as much. I have a w/c prepared and planned on doing it today, don't know if I should b/c that supposedly causes dino to bloom. I haven't done on in at least 6 months or checked pos or nitrates but everything looks happy.

6 weeks, just about done with cyano bloom, bryopsis gone gha gone, treating hydroperox daily, vibrant every 2 weeks, was doing weekly 5% WC

That's awesome. I'll be curious what your cyano will do now. If its spirulina variety the h2o2 won't do much for it but the vibrant might.

I've been using it for 4 weeks now on 2 systems. My main DT system has marginal algae issues going on. I believe it's because I'm trying to keep a display refugium and a display reef with shared water. Vibrant has had no effect on anything.

I have a shallow reef tank with new TBS live rock and it brought some SERIOUS algae issues with it. Vibrant dosed at 50% above the recommended level has had a minor reduction in algae. But it may just be the algae running out of food on it's own and the Vibrant really may not have had any effect at all.

I picked up a bottle to give it a try. Im not sure if its green turf algae or green hair algae, in some isolated spots. I also have some bryopsis, and brown clumpy algae, on the power heads and return piping. As well as some diatoms on some of the rock. None of the algae is out of control. I just wanted to see how this product would do and if in fact the water would clear up.

Im at week 3, I've been dosing the recommended amount twice a week.
-The green algae looks to have thinned out slightly.
-The Bryopsis, is untouched.
-Brown clumpy algae is gone.
-Brown diatom has thinned slightly
-The water does look more clear.

I've been debating about increasing the amount dosed, but Im unsure if I should. I cant say I like the product or dislike it yet. The one thing I do like about it is the clear water.
